![]() Round Hill Outdoors and the Round Hill A.T. Community invite you to submit artwork to the third annual Round Hill Appalachian Art Show. The show aims to connect the community to the A.T. and all our local natural resources. Registration is open now. Submissions from students and adults are due by February 2nd at the Round Hill Arts Center (35246 Harry Byrd Hwy #170). Entries should celebrate the A.T. and/or the Great Outdoors. Please bring submissions January 31st, February 1st or February 2nd between 12 and 4 pm. Even if you don't want to enter, come celebrate the A.T. see how the Trail inspires people of all ages. The show runs February 9th–March 8th from 12-4 pm. An opening reception on February 16th (2-4 pm) features a talk by A.T. hiker/artist Rose Turner, awards and food and drink.

PATC unanimously approved our Blue Ridge chapter at their December meeting. Naturally, we had to celebrate.
We gathered in Berryville December 21st to talk about plans for 2020, including getting hike leaders certified. Stay tuned for more projects to come! ![]() Join Blue Ridge PATC Winter Hike Challenge. The goal of Hike December is to get outdoors and explore our area parks and trails. Don’t let the cold weather stop you; bundle up the family and head outdoors. Join the challenge by signing up for the Winter Hike event on Facebook. Hike each day of the month and/or hike a total of 31 miles this winter. Post a picture or selfie of your hikes letting us know either the date or miles of hikes (or both!). At the end of challenge a winner will be selected to win a small PATC gift (hint: think hiking book). Let’s get outdoors and explore! ![]() Whether you want to lead a hike down your favorite trail, or join someone else's hike...we have a training session for you. Join us November 9 at Blandy Experimental Farm for a day of hiking know-how. PATC Trail Patrol offers this hike leader class for people who want to learn new skills—and, perhaps, become formal hike leaders for the club. This one-day course provides essential skills for leading a safe, environmentally responsible and enjoyable hike. We'll cover how to handle basic first aid, leadership development, trip planning, standard and emergency procedures, gear and clothing, basic map reading and navigation, and Leave No Trace ethics. The training includes lectures with hands-on applications and trail-based scenarios. Following the session, you'll be encouraged to participate in two co-led hikes with an experienced PATC hike leader in order to receive your hike leader certificate. Hike on! ![]() Twenty-one PATC members came together at B Chord Brewing on Oct. 5th to vote on bylaws and officers of the proposed Blue Ridge Chapter of the club. We learned that PATC will vote on adding the chapter at a December meeting. Also under discussion: boundaries and future events for the chapter. The chapter will have an all-day hike leader training session on Nov. 9; the location is still TBD. After discussing ideas for the chapter, we nominated a slate of of officers: President: Kristine Villatoro Vice President: Abby Ingram Secretary: Melissa Burke Treasurer: Brian Snyder If you would like to nominate someone (or yourself) to run for an office in our proposed chapter, please email your nomination no later than 5pm on September 24, 2019. All officer nominations will be posted on our website and sent out in an email on September 25. 2019. We will vote for officers at our Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 5, 2019, when we will also approve our chapter's constitution, by-laws and calendar. If you will be unable to attend the meeting on October 5th and wish to vote for an officer, please contact us to give you information on how to submit your vote. ![]() We already have 30 PATC members who want to take part in our proposed chapter. The next organizational meeting for the proposed Blue Ridge PATC chapter is set for September 17th at 6 p.m. at the Bear's Den trail center. We'll be finalizing our bylaws , nominating officers and planning our first annual meeting. We hope you can join us. ![]() We hope to be. We're a group of Potomac Appalachian Trail Club members from northwest Virginia and Harper's Ferry who would like to host more events—both hikes and stewardship projects—in our region. Our proposed chapter includes several A.T. Communities, towns and counties recognized by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy for their commitment to promote and protect the Trail. A.T. Communities in the proposed PATC chapter include: Front Royal/Warren Co., Berryville/Clark Co. and Round Hill in Virginia; and Bolivar/Harper's Ferry in West Virginia. Would you like to see more PATC events in our region? We need at least 20 prospective members for our chapter in order to apply to the Club for recognition and support.
