Join Blue Ridge PATC Winter Hike Challenge. The goal of Hike December is to get outdoors and explore our area parks and trails. Don’t let the cold weather stop you; bundle up the family and head outdoors. Join the challenge by signing up for the Winter Hike event on Facebook. Hike each day of the month and/or hike a total of 31 miles this winter. Post a picture or selfie of your hikes letting us know either the date or miles of hikes (or both!). At the end of challenge a winner will be selected to win a small PATC gift (hint: think hiking book). Let’s get outdoors and explore!

We already have 30 PATC members who want to take part in our proposed chapter. Know someone in PATC who would like to join hikes and trail maintenance between Front Royal and Harper's Ferry? Please invite them to join us. The next organizational meeting for the proposed Blue Ridge PATC chapter is set for September 17th at 6 p.m. at the Bear's Den trail center. We'll be finalizing our bylaws , nominating officers and planning our first annual meeting. We hope you can join us. We hope to be. We're a group of Potomac Appalachian Trail Club members from northwest Virginia and Harper's Ferry who would like to host more events—both hikes and stewardship projects—in our region. Our proposed chapter includes several A.T. Communities, towns and counties recognized by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy for their commitment to promote and protect the Trail. A.T. Communities in the proposed PATC chapter include: Front Royal/Warren Co., Berryville/Clark Co. and Round Hill in Virginia; and Bolivar/Harper's Ferry in West Virginia. Would you like to see more PATC events in our region? We need at least 20 prospective members for our chapter in order to apply to the Club for recognition and support. Please contact us to add your name, and/or ask questions and make suggestions. |
